THE HEALING BLOSSOM APPROACH

Eastern Medicine views disease and pain as imbalance in the body and nervous system.

The approach to Eastern Medicine is based on over 2500 years of authenticated use and is quite different from Western medicine in terms of philosophy and approach. By working to redirect and unblock energy (called Qi), Eastern Medicine seeks to restore balance in the body and to heal the root of the disease. This is a fundamental contrast to Western Medicine, which tends to focus on alleviating symptoms or masking pain rather than healing the source of the problem.

  • Description I use Eastern Medicine to treat a wide range of disease and conditions from anxiety, insomnia and low back pain to headaches and fibromyalgia. An acupuncture session is relaxing and PAIN-FREE. A fear of needles can be common with some patients, but once the client sees the size of the needle, they almost always respond with “that’s it?” The needles I use are hair-like in diameter and release endorphins in the body, creating a relaxing and sedating effect for the patient. I ease nervous patients into a routine that helps them to feel comfortable, confident and supported. I understand that you are unique and we will work together to design a customized treatment plan that meets your needs!

MORE ABOUT ME

My own healing journey led me to acupuncture and Eastern Medicine.

I have been playing the cello since I was 9 years of age and had already earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in cello performance. Like many professional musicians, I started to feel pain regularly from overuse. I experienced amazing results through Eastern Medicine techniques, and I became fascinated with the practice.

  • I was (and still am) a professional musician and had already begun to incorporate holistic therapies and mindfulness techniques with my cello students, but decided to go a step further and pursue a second master’s degree in Eastern Medicine.

I spent four years studying at the Academy of Oriental Medicine at Austin, Texas, training for more than 1000 hours in their student clinic. While in Texas, I developed a love for Medical Qi Gong, Reiki, and Tuina (Chinese therapeutic massage), and now I use these modalities in conjunction with acupuncture and Chinese herbs to help my clients achieve health and wellness. I also had the opportunity to study further in China at the TCM Hospital of Chengdu, focusing primarily on herbal medicine, acupuncture, and Tuina.

I now primarily focus on my work as an acupuncturist and healer, while also continuing with music. I play in the Asheville Symphony, the Greenville Symphony, teach a few cello students and play kirtan music. I find that this balance along with my personal yoga and meditation practices help to keep me energized, enthusiastic, and at the top of my profession. In my free time, I hike and camp, travel this fascinating planet and seek out workshops and classes that can enhance my practice and help to further assist my clients on their healing journey.
